School is starting soon, and it is the eighth year that I won’t be joining in on the fun of the first day of school. The first day is always chaotic. There are always parents who didn’t sign their children up when they were supposed to or need to fill out forms.

I once had a principal who said if he could get the students in the building and get everyone fed before the end of the day, he had accomplished his goals.

I miss those days sometimes. But as I reminisce, there are some things that I don’t miss about my thirty-two years of teaching.

If you aren’t a good parent and don’t want your kid to succeed at school then this list is for you.

1. Change your phone number without telling the school because it’s none of their business.

2. Don’t answer the phone when the school calls because you need to sleep and not be bothered.

3. Bring your child to school before you are supposed to because you need to get to work, and after all, school staff gets paid good money to watch your child.

4. Don’t bother to pick your child up on time because the school should understand that you have things to
