So my husband was suddenly let go from his job. We have a lot of debt and I had a repayment plan based on him retiring at the age of 70. He was 66 when he was let go and I noticed it was exactly the month he could get SS. I ended up taking my SS early and my husband half-heartedly looked for a job. We knew the chances of finding one for slim for him.

Things have worked out though. He got a fun part-time job that he likes and then he got a well paid contracting job based on his experience. suddenly he had two jobs.

It wouldn't have been so scary but we still had kids at home. Seniors need to be open about working part time to gain extra income. I write here on Medium and have done very well. Things can get better if you look for new options.
