My mother was 36 and my father was 40 when I was born. Growing up, I thought that I had the oldest parents in the world. God has a funny sense of humor and I became a mother by adoption at 36. Then I adopted again at 44. My grandmother was 44 the last time she gave birth. I'm 63 now and my youngest is 18. They have given me a run for my money becuase of their teenage antics. I didn't feel too old until then. Having to stay one step ahead of them when I am in my 60s has been difficult. I think I could have handled it better if I were in my 40s. Or maybe not. Maybe I wouldn't have been as patient or so diligent then. Who knows? It is what it is. My youngest son has met his birthmother recently and she is 18 years younger than me. My thoughts are..well at least when I die of old age he'll still have a mother. But who knows what will happen? It's not for me to determine...it's God's plan.
