Buy a flea comb. He will love it. Get an old cup filled with water and some soap. run the comb over him and use your fingers to each off the hair and fleas into the water. Don't dip the comb in the water becuase the debri has to be manually taken off and you don't want to do it wet. The cat will beg you to comb him. It gets off dead skin and loose hair as well.
